It is very easy to sell the insurance to customers who know about the benefits of life insurance. If the customer does not know about the benefits of life insurance then the life insurance agent may find it difficult to sell the life insurance policy.   The life insurance agent will first measure how much information the customer has about the life insurance. So, if they find that the customer does not know much, then they would want to go ahead with the deal. The life insurance sale agent  should first try and give the customer all the benefits of life insurance to the customer.

The life insurance agent will have to speak to the customer and explain the benefit of the life insurance. After then, the discussion should move on to the financial benefits, the customer will surely want to know how much they pay and how much they would get back, in terms of savings. When a life insurance sales agent is discussing the life insurance policy to the customer, they should not talk anything negative. The following questions/remarks the life insurance sales agent should avoid asking the customer:
• What will happen to your family or love ones when you die tomorrow?
• How will your family members survive if you die in the next week?

When explaining the need of life insurance, the life insurance sales agent first needs to find out the number of dependents of the customer. Ask positive questions about the dependents, such as, what are your dependents currently doing? What financial plans have you invested in? Do the dependents have a regular source of income other than yours? Asking positive questions like these have good effect on the customer. He then starts to think that there is need for financial assistance when he dies.

After all these probing questions the customer will know at what the life insurance sales agent is hinting at. The life insurance sales agent should also make the customer understand that life insurance is not a luxury as many believe. When the life insurance agent talks to the customer and when the customer asks questions like how he or she can pay the premiums and how he or she can get the life insurance quotes, now the life insurance agent can get the hint that the customer might be interested in the life insurance policy.

When an insurance sales agent is on a sales call and when the customer want to know some more information the sales agent should be prepared to give all the information that the customer needs and wants to know. If the sales agent does not have the information at that time, he/she can ask the customer for some time and get back to the customer with the information. The life insurance sales agent must have all the resource at the time of the sales call so if needed he/she can completed the sales call if needed.

Before going for the sales call, the life insurance agents need to ensure that they have all the items in their possession. One good way of ensuring that all is kept at arms length is to maintain a checklist. The life insurance agent’s checklist is simply a piece of paper that contains the list of items that may be needed for the sales call. When the life insurance agent is ready to go on the sales call, he or she needs to take out the life insurance checklist and tick mark all the items that he or she has carried.

Most life insurance agents have the latest technologies to help them make the perfect sales call. In the past, if you wanted life insurance quotes, the life insurance agent would take out a long book and check out the quotes. This would often take several minutes and the sale may or may not happen. These days, life insurance agents use portable computers such as the laptops to give the instant life insurance quotes to their customers. Customers who get immediate life insurance quotes are generally very happy and are also open to suggestions.

When on a sales call the life insurance agent must check that their laptops are powered and if there is sufficient  battery power left. A customer may want to meet the life insurance agent anywhere in a hotel or in some comfortable place. If there is no source of electricity where the meeting is set up, then the life insurance sales agent will not be able to make the sales call. So, in addition to the laptop, the life insurance sakes agent can also be prepared and carry hard copies of the quotes as well.
